Lecture: Putting the “More” back in Morphology: Quantitating Protein Expressions in Intact Tissue Sections with Nuance Multispectral Imaging and inForm Analysis

Date: Thursday June 23, 2011

Time: 1:30 – 4:30 pm

Location: Wood Basic Sciences Building, West Lecture Hall

Live Demo: Immediately following the lecture

Please bring your fluorescent or brightfield slides to be imaged on the Nuance FX Multispectral Imaging System and Leica DM 5500B Fluorescent Microscope.

Topics will include the following:

  • Quantifying multiple protein expressions in a single tissue section using bright-field or fluorescence modes
  • Elimination of auto-fluorescence for robust protein quantitation
  • Imaging, un-mixing, and analysis of co-localized protein within cell compartments
  • Intact tissue vs. separation technologies
  • Use of pattern recognition software to automatically segment different areas of tissue (i.e. Tumor vs. Non-tumor)
