With new NIH rules, we must upload citations for publications that use equipment funded through NIH shared instrumentation grants. In addition, the NIH rules require you to acknowledge the grant number of such instrumentation in your papers.
Acknowledge & Cite Microscope Facility Grants
For all MicFac instrumentation grants, relevant information is listed in the table below. Here is an example citation (see NIH OER page on all NIH requirements):
“Research reported in this [publication/press release] was supported by [name of the Institute(s), Center, or other NIH offices] of the National Institutes of Health under award number [specific NIH grant number(s) in this format: S10OD016374].”
We need your help to comply with these new rules. Please:
- Acknowledge the relevant grant number in your papers that use our NIH-funded instrumentation (see example above; information in table below)
- Email us the PMCID (or PMID) and citation, if available, for our records. Please indicate if the paper has already been entered or will be entered into PubMed Central (see (3) below).
- PubMed Central: When your PI uploads the paper into the NIH manuscript submission system (NIHMS), he/she should indicate the instrument grant number (see below) as one of the designated support mechanisms of the uploaded paper.
Note: PMCIDs, including temporary PMCIDs, are issued when your PI uploads the citation into PubMed Central, as required by NIH research grants. PMIDs are the regular PubMed identifiers.
